Ariane Roberto, artistically known as Ary Roberto is a multilingual digital creator, media personality, singer and all around funny girl from Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Currently residing in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Ary is constantly inspired by many different cultures and languages including French, Tamil, English, Spanish and German. Her love for languages stems from a desire to allow everyone to be accepted as they are, after experiencing her own feelings of not fitting in as a child. Ary can now be found on YouTube, Tik Tok and Instagram creating content about languages from all around the world.
At a very young age, Ary was always influenced and surrounded by music and languages. Both her mother and father were performing flute players with her father serving 20 years in several Canadian Armed Forces bands. Both parents are also bilingual, encouraging Ary to pursue her love for languages and music. Her exposure to many languages and influences, though unique, also came with a lot of feelings of not fitting in at a very young age. This encouraged her to bridge the gap between people as her curiosity for other cultures led her to travel and learn a number of languages including French, German and Spanish, breaking the barrier and not allowing anyone to feel that they don’t “fit in.” And yet, music was not the only creative outlet that Ary would discover and fall in love with.
By 2012, Ary would find a new love in acting. From 2012 to 2016 she attended Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario and St. Lawrence College in Brockville, Ontario studying performing arts and music theatre. After graduation, Ary was determined to make a name for herself. Using what she learned during her time in college, she successfully played roles in the television pilot “The Fixer” and a feature film entitled “100M Criminal Conviction” now available on Amazon Prime.
While acting, her desire to create music continued as she began building up her YouTube channel, previously titled “Da Backstreet Girl.” Her curiosity for other cultures continued into her adulthood, specifically her love for the Tamil community and their cinematic and music industries. As an ode to her favourite Tamil soundtracks she began releasing covers for songs such as: “Urvasi, Urvasi,” “Why This Kolaveri Di, Mukkala Mukkabla” and “Paattu Paadava.”
In 2018, Ary released her debut self-titled EP “Ary.” Alongside her EP was her single and music video for “Get Away From Here,” co-written and co-directed by Vincent Rioux, Benoit Plamondon and Ary herself. Ary’s big break would come in 2019 when she was invited to India to participate in Season 1 of Colors Tamil’s reality singing competition, “Singing Stars.”
“It was such a surreal experience. India was the country of my dreams and here I was performing there in the semi finals!”
Ary’s popularity continued to grow after coming back from India. Her regular release of musical, informative and comedic videos allowed her channel to surpass seven million views. On October 25th 2020, Ary released “All On Me” under the new artist name of Ary Roberto which was followed up by “Don’t Play That” building up a stream count of over 30,000 streams on Spotify.
By 2022, Ary surpassed 90,000 streams on Spotify and finished 2022 opening for Karl Wolf on his Canadian tour. In 2023, Ary released her first multilingual project “Earth,” featuring English, French, Spanish, Tamil and German. This officially introduced Ary as a multilingual digital creator for the first time shifting the content towards languages and her mission to allow everyone to feel accepted despite our differences.
That same year, Roberto and her team also confirmed their working relationship with Scarborough women’s shelter, Juliette’s Place. Ary can now be found on YouTube, Tik Tok and Instagram creating content about languages and constantly bridging the gap between our differences.
